For ease of final deployment the four airlock sections have been linked together via docking adaptors which can be quickly released and discarded as each airlock is fitted into place on the outer hull of the MMS-1. With the payload from the recently arrived Cocoon now safely locked into the two robotic arms of the Orbital Shuttle Atlantis the final primary phase of the MMS-1 spacecraft’s construction can now take place.
