This is the shot I was going for when I ended up behind the lamp post here
This is the old Chicago Public Library.
Even standing in the perfect spot, I still had to do a little "warp" in Photoshop to get the perfect symmetry I was going for.
There's nothing inherently good about symmetry, but sometimes a little challenge is good for the soul.

Well, I like symmetry alot, that is why I have made alot of postcards with symmetry. Not that I use them, LOL but I like to create them. :) I find this shot very beautiful. Also the soft effect.

I'm an unconditional fan of symmetry. Not sure if the result would have turned out the way i imagine it could, but on this picture i would have applied a lens correction, vertical perspective.
I love the library One of my favorite places to go visit check out the new books and things on display of course ours is smaller...but would love to see inside this beautiful old library........ Bet it is chock full of treasures Great image and pic Hugs Susan~

I don't believe anyone covld make this more symmetrical! It is sqvare, and balanced on every side. The only difference I was able to spot was in the position of the street lamps, and I wovld conclvde that error was dve to favlty electrical installation! Yov done good!

We really should do something about those lamp posts wandering into people's shots. They've gotten worse this autumn. I think they're breeding or something because there seem to be more of them, but only when you're pointing your camera at something. And you know what? I hadn't realized that this place is as symmetrical as it is. Of course, I was usually too busy moving dental equipment into the building that was directly behind you as you took this shot. A cute security guard, named Amit, from Bosnia works in that building, and well...what would Chicago be without cute Bosnian guys in suits? Anyway, I love this shot and the symmetry is amazing. Very neo-classical, or in the 21st Century, Post-neo-post Classical, or whatever they're calling it these days. This is brilliant and full zoom is a must. There's a chandelier in the middle window, and I can't tell if it's native to that building or the one behind you-the-photographer, but it's quite a compelling mystery to marvel at. This is super.
