Description
Ready for battle against a dark fate, the spirit of the dragon fights alongside her.
This is a revived artwork which I started on in late 2010 as an Xmas present for one of my friends. I've always liked the original but also always admitted it needed more work. Now I've finally gone back and reworked it to turn it into something brand new. It was originally inspired by one of my all time favorite video games, Jade Empire.
The realistic lighting used is actually a very simple IDL setup with a gold colored IDL sphere, one edge blend light, and one specular light. That's it! There truly is beauty in simplicity. The only postwork was an antiqued overlay, a little DoF, and a slight color/detail enhancement. I'm not sure if the katana stands out a little too much or not now that I've been looking at it longer...

Your lighting here is oustanding, Lizzie! This is one of your best works yet! This just exudes grace and power. I think the katana is fine - it echos the diagonal of the dragon, and adds to the graceful pose. A superb piece!
