Description
This view is from Sam Mountain (Nui Sam) located about 3 km west of Chau Doc, Vietnam. The Vietnam-Cambodia border follows the diagonal line of the rice paddies across the center of this picture. Vietnam is at the lowerr part of the picture. In the distance are the mountains of Bokor National Park (officially known as Preah Monivong National Park), Cambodia. The mountains of this park, over 1,000m high, are covered by rainforest and are home to wild animals, including elephants and tigers.
The area has been used by the Khmer Rouge and illigal loggers and until recently was off-limits to tourism. There are still many unexploded mines.

Beautiful Sig...the Delta was my home for a year (65-66),...but way over on the South China Sea where the Mekong meets the sea. (Tra Vinh Province)
