Description

Cutter's Goose overtaking Pan-Am's "Philippine Clipper," -I've given my old model of the big passenger flying boat the layered material treatment in Vue to enhance the raw metal separately from the paintwork. Pan-Am's Martin M-130 clippers commenced scheduled trans-Pacific passenger services in 1936 just a year before the Grumman Goose flew. The producers of the 1980's TV series "Tales of the Gold Monkey" sometimes wove stock footage of Pan-Am clippers a little too cleverly into episodes- like the continuity clanger where footage of a Martin Clipper was cut together with film of a later Boeing 314 Clipper (more commonly seen in the Atlantic) for supposedly the same takeoff sequence... groan. Hey, but at least they admitted to the Martin aircraft's existence on its signature Pacific routes. None of Martin's three trailblazers survived the 1940's so the film "Raider's of the Lost Ark" had to substitute a more modern Short Solent (an evolution of the famous Short Sunderland) for boarding shots and Indy's flight across the Pacific. Thanks for viewing and comments.

The layered texturing of materials does add a nice subtle touch. Kind of fun to do as well. I like your use of the aircraft vs the cloud masses. Very nice.
