Description
I'm not certain of his Latin name, and await an ID from the experts on Flickr.
It could be a Violet Ground Beetle, but it was a bit small and I don't think they have red legs.

nice beetle, excellent capture
Nice capture of this impressive beetle. I wonder if he knows Ringo.
Fantastic details. Super shot!
Very nice close up. Well done.
Great shot, Andrea! Fantastic details! :)
Amazing capture!!
greyone comment thanks funny I never say the word NICE" cause if I'm not sure what it is I don't like it lol but great capture~
Whatever it is it makes a brilliant pic.
It could still be a Violet Ground Beetle. After all, you don't expect them to wear the same thing everyday. Red is a great color for Autumn. I love the detail on its back.
A really beautiful Macro. Looks like such one I once found in my sock, that I was wearing :D It was 2½ cm long. I am glad I am not hysterical about insects :)
I've no idea of its name either but it's a great capture of him!
Possibly an Oriental Beetle, as portrayed in this sharp shot, especially with that parallel line raster on its thorax, Andrea.
Rembrandt could not have chosen better colors. Lovely!
TERRIFIC MACRO
Great pic Hugs Susan~
His Latin name is COCKROACH! Nah just kidding. Great shot of this little beauty.
Superb capture Andrea. God Bless.
I don't know either but a super macro photo and some sweet details in zoom!
It looks like a 'Sidewalk Carabid' but there are so many different beetles only an expert can tell. Nice shot though, I rather like these little fellows!
Oh this one gives me a scare i do not like beetles much had one get on me and it pinched me so i steer clear of them but this is one terrific shot.
Small???? He looks massive here, wonderful capture!
superb capture
Very nice shot of this beauty.
