Description
Of the Silver Y moth, as it turned out.
I had no idea what moth or butterfly would emerge so I cut the stem of the Phlox it was hanging from, and brought it indoors.
I have a Insect house (no surprise there!) and so I misted the pupa each day and six days later the moth emerged.

Stunning capture Andrea. God Bless.
Awesome looking capture Hugs Susan~
An exquisite capture Andrea! I think that the wings can be seen inside the chrysalis. Beautiful "birth" photo on FlickR. I also noticed your 'reflection' self portrait on FlickR. So Nice!!! I still can't comment over there. I am going to have to delete myself and register from scratch.
Excellent and very interesting shot. Fantastic details!
Lucky u to get a pic of this awesome stuff.
Fascinating work Andrea. Great follow-up shot over on Flickr. Your gallery has so many very cool images
What a great shot, and the one at the flick is super too Andrea!
I used to find these all the time when I was a kid; I can't remember the last time I saw one, but it's been many decades! Wonderful find and capture!
It is a great expression. I thank you for it. 5+!!
Your garden is a treasure trove Andrea!!
Awesome.. and the moth looks much like the one I took shots of last summer.
Outstanding portrait of the pupa, Andrea, and interesting how you played obstetrician and surgeon in the case of this simple life form.
Fasinating find and follow through. Awesome photo shot Andrea. What a beautiful transition.
impressive capture
Well, Andrea, now you've outdone yourself. I have never heard of such a thing outside of scientific experiments. Both images are stunning. So, now that you are a new moth-er, does the little one follow you around?
Well done Andrea, and I think we have come to expect such surprises!
super !!
So well done, my daughter would love this!
wonderful micro
Not only a very cool caputre Andrea, but love that you linked so I could see who hatched out of the pupa!
A fabulous capture and great to see what hatched out. Thanks for sharing.
Always a great moment see them hatching. You are such a great person for this small creatures - there will be a shrine somewhere in a secret corner in your garden where they all pray for you :)
