Description
This is one for Stella who hike to Lake Waiau on "Mauna Kea July 22, 2012" . Lake Waiau elevation is 13,020 ft. above sea level and the air is thin up there. Good job Stella, you now have bragging rights for being up there.....and glad you enjoyed the hike. Aloha

@whaleman.... From the parking area, the starting point was at about 13,000 elevation level. The trail to Lake Waiau is about 1 mile and at that high altitude, it is not an easy walk. Aloha

Love the hat and matching outfit~ ;) Congrats on the accomplishment! Last Sept I walked a broad, paved winding path about 1/2 mile long at 6000 ft up to 6600 (?) ft to Clingman's Dome, the highest point in the Great Smoky Mtns. The air seemed thinner even there and the walk was difficult for me as I was/am still recovering from shoulder and back injuries (now much better but still issues). I stopped and rested many times over. Can't imagine your hike and height!
