My son was quite fearful of that thundering surf upon moving here last June. Preferring the safe harbor of these temporary lagoons left by the tide. You can't see the wave slope down to the surf from here. That's just how high the ridge of sand has been deposited along the beach from the cresting waves. Of course he did get over that fear and even catches smelt by hand in the rolling wake of the wave slopes.

Very cool capture Glad he got over his fear I just hope he doesn't lose his respect for the waves....
First thing he got taught here was never turn your back to the sea!
so peaceful and beautiful capture, would love to have sand in between my toes right now sipping on a pina colada. on the job learning with the surf..
This is wonderful, really gives you a good feeling.
I like to walk thru the shallow waters look like fun.
Very nice. made me smile. :)
Terrific pic, Dana! We have the same feature here on our sandy shore, but not on this vast scale.
Outstanding capture Of this beautiful landscape and Your son enjoying it!
Gorgeous shot!
love this shot--makes me want to go take a dip--almost--lol
A super follow up shot Dana. The sea can be awesome and very frightening at times.
This looks a delightful place to spend time
We too live by the sea, and treat it with the greatest respect. I have seen many silly fatal mistakes made by people thinking they can outrace the incoming tide round sandbanks. I'm glad your son overcame his fear. The sea is Big!
Most beautiful shot here.
wonderful seascape
I'm glad your son got over his fear! It does take a lot of courage to overcome something like that. Nevertheless as long as he remembers that water can be dangerous if not carefully "gone about". Excellent capture of the vastness of this beautiful body of water!
Splendid capture!
Superb shot at seaside --sigh-- !
It must be nice having a place like this nearby.A wonderful photograph.
Another beautiful shot. It seems a place this beautiful would have people crawling all over it.
That is a vast beach, excellent capture! :)
so wonderful beachphoto!
Wow!! What a fantastic beach scene. No tourists in sight! Spectacular shot. Glad your son overcame his fear so he can enjoy the grandeur.
Another amazingly beautiful capture my friend.
great place,love sea places
What a wonderful place!
very lovely
I'm with Eekdog - would love to be there with my feet in the water/sand. Beauitful place, Dana!
You have the best of both worlds here with the safe lagoon to play in and the surf for when they are older. A lovely capture and I can see how these two photos show that large sand bar now. I wonder if it will disappear in the winter.
wonderful
