Description
Well, I've been away for a while so I am a way bit behind in comments, sorry about that. Been in New York for business, a major conference and then time touring museums and the Met, all business. Must say I am glad to be home now, New York did not really impress me like say London or Istanbul. Really nice people no matter where I went, and I went in some pretty rough areas of the Bronx. A real hot and humid concrete jungle New York was. But got some decent night shots that I'll post in a bit.
So this one is for Delaney who a few images ago asked if I had photographed any of the stones themselves from Perge. Well, yes indeed my dear I have a few closeups; so here is one with some Roman decorations on limestone blocks. These were probably originally facades that had fallen from the roof or wall of a merchants shop - they were near the agora. Sorry, I was on my own when I took these and so I don't have much more information on them.

This is a sensational capture of the stones Roxy, can't get over all of the cool detail work. Can't wait to see the NY photos later on.
Beautiful stome work! They don't make them like that anymore!
Very cool shot. You captured a lot of detail and depth. Welcome home. There's a million things to do in New York, but I never seem to go there despite it's close proximity. I like the woods too much.
wonderful shot
Happy B~day Roxy! An intricate design and superb image!
Great capture of an ancient treasure!
Fantastic capture and Happy Birthday!!
I just want to reach out and touch the curved reliefs of theses stones--so lovely!!!!
I read that susan wished you a happy birthday - I didn't know... Happy Birthday. I've never wanted to go to NY.... My QB Tebow is there now though, so I'll be paying a little bit more attention to NY. cool stones and to see them laying in weeds and still looking great - WOW!
Wow, wonderful antique stone, love it!!! Happy birthday to you :-)
OH my!!! That is really amazing. I find it incredible that they were able to such intricate repeating patterns with the technology of the day, not to mention perfect columns. This has me thinking I should attempt a frame like this too. Thank you Roxy for the amazing gift! And Happy Birthday! I hope you have a great one.
Great shot, gorgeous colors and contrasts, hope you had a terrific birthday!
Really cool ruins!!
Fascinating shot, and I'm with you viz big cities; I prefer my skies big & open rather than small & rectangular... And happy belated birthday!
Great shot and I love the detailing :O) I hope you had a wonderful Birthday!
How intricately crafted! And all by hand. I wish architects and builders today would spend the time and efford on decorating houses like that still. Seems since WWII only plain and ugly is accepted as modern and right - in most cases anyway, there certainly are some exceptions.
excellent
Well, first and foremost..... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, and welcome back, Roxy! Glad you had a good trip! And glad you're back home safely. You know, it always amazes me when I see photos of the amazing intricate work these "ancient" folks did with crude tools... I could be wrong, I suppose, but I don't think they had Dremel tools back then.... Anyway, this is a great shot of the detail in these fantastic carvings. Can't wait to see some of your NY photos!
Another great photo, really like the strong contrast and crisp detail. Well done!
Xlt composition.
