Description

These little guys are part of another group. Several of you have commented on the different colors and markings. Raccoons can be very much the same, usually in the same litter. However, they can have very different colors from group to group. Their mask can be all the way across, stop at the nose on each side, or stop on the outside of the eyes. This is less seen. I have had chocolate brown, silver and black raccoons as well. The apprehension you see is pretty much in all wildlife. These babies trust me, but did not trust the camera. If I take alot of pictures, they get very used to it and then do their very best to take it from me!

There is a look ... it must be mammalian in nature ... this is so familiar! That's probably what draws us in. Such a cute shot!

Aw, another beautiful photo which catches how they feel. Apprehensive, yes. The lens looks like a huge eye, and eye means it could be a predator. I'm having a hard time with my pocket camera and wild life around here (birds, the occasional squirrel or hare, hedge hogs). The only animals not scared are cats and dogs. The little one to the left looks almost angry - staring so intensely. I understand why they want to grab it from you - if you're using it, then they want to, too! Or, are they plotting to hide it so it won't threaten them again? As for the markings - it seems these are family related. Perhaps another means of recognizing who belongs to ones own family? 3 grey fellows here and one brown. I wonder how well they get along in a mixed group? Keep up the good work! (And keep the camera safely locked away - one never knows!) :-)
