Description
I just bought a Canon SX40 from my dear friend, Marilyn (beachzz), because I just couldn't spring for a DSLR. So this is my new camera for now. Having no time for pics, I took 10 shots out my window. I'm posting three to 'christen' it, so to speak... And btw: Two are night shots without a tripod, and I have to tell you: It got pretty good light for dark conditions. Not perfect, but better than I expected.

What a great result! This low light business is the one major weakness of my TZ3. I haven't tried it with the TZ18 yet

Beautiful sky & I like the sun reflected in the tall building on the left very much as well. This time of day is one of my favorites for photos, though not the easiest to take advantage of...

What gorgeous colors! I can't imagine seeing this in person ... it must be amazing! We get a faint pink from time to time, but nothing like you get on the prairie. Glorious!

Stellar effects, considering the low light ambiance, captured by your previously owned (not politically correct to call it used any longer) camera, Mark. Love the pink streaks in the sky, which help create a sense of depth. And I like the dark Batman Gotham City mood of the Chicago skyline.
A superb shot with your new camera. I love the colours you have caught and how you have just caught the last rays of the sun on that tall building. You have a great view from your window with the lake in the back ground.
Glad to see you flexing your camera's wings. Love this time of day...the blue hour. This looks excellent at the zoom...the golden light reflecting off the windows, the blues and pinks and deepening shadows...wowser:)
