Description
this was taken with my Nikon d800 and was on large jpeg which will be 7360 x 4912 and around 16mb. a raw would be around 32mb and a tiff around 107mb. I sent it to Richardphotos by email to look at to see the differ in quality. he say he can see more details in the background. now I like him to look at it re size for RR site to see how it will look?
so this is just a test that all. he like this photo I sent him and i thought of this would be a good time to look at some testing. If you wish to look at the big jpeg i would email it to you. all i did here to post was do a little contrasting. not much. guess i should have did nothing to the image but re size it lol. I no scientist.
I be getting back to the dog show next time i post. I got more on Mexico lol
oh i did make it a little bit bigger that what I normal post also.

Well, test or not, this looks great, Jock! A very pastoral and refreshing photo, my friend!
What great depth and feeling of being in the shot. I bet the raw size you can even see an ant. Amazing, the difference between what we do sometimes and what can be posted. Well done.
I like this photo and I agree with Richard about the wonderful depth in this shot!
I've compressed 10 MB paintings to the stultifying 512 KB, and I know how hard that is. You have to lose detail, it's inevitable. So you do some compensating postwork to get back what you lost. There's no other way...I appreciate what you had to go through here...The result is still monumental in feel, though, and the way you go from the deep dark marshes of the foreground to that all-encompassing light in the background---and the twists & turns you take us on, to get us there---is grand. A grand sweeping sight, of, really, a fairly intimate looking place. Fine seeing; and whatever you went through to squeeze it into RR's standards, kudos. You came out with a beautiful product.
great photo, beautiful nature scene
fantastic results.. the compression doesn't show any aliasing or moire.... damn fine work!
I was on I-10 bridge today and looked at an old wood structure bridge that was broken about 500 feet from the road. I thought about you photoing it. It was at the east end of the last I-10 bridge on the north side. I can google map it if you want to shoot it. It was an awesome photo site.
Very nice photo. While I appreciate the crispness and clarity of an uncompressed photo, often it's the overall impression that the viewer gets when first seeing a picture that causes him or her to say, "Wow! That is really nice!" So, while I appreciate the experiment you're doing here, I can say without having to analyze it too deeply, This is really nice! :) Great shot, Jock!
