Last one, at least for now. :)
All the shots in this series were done at ISO 800, indoor lighting, with some level of zoom, using a tripod. They were all excerpts from larger images. I had the opportunity to photograph a local event one night last week, and some of the shots contained these wonderfully genuine, expressive faces. It's been fun putting this together! :)

Great series Tara, all your titles are spot on....it's great you could make this 'visual' record of what was obviously an 'audio' event.As Rob said "great portraits work as always"... ( for pure 'Tara', you could have added a very close-up of an ear lobe and called it 'confused' :-)

Oooh! I love this. The treatment is perfect! I'm looking at this on an internet cafe computer as my laptop is nearly completely dead. HOPEFULLY I can get it up and running, or at least limping soon. But at least I got to see this and I love the wonderful, human softness this has. This is truly gorgeous, sensitive work.

I'll bet some of those folks would LOVE having these wonderful portraits on thier walls! This like all the others is just excellent, Tara! Your sense of timing is just phenominal! Much better than mine!
I have enjoyed all five portraits, in your series of different expressions ... but - there is something about this guys face ??? I personally couldn't trust him - his steely looking eyes are a tad too calculating IMHO, a bit like a smiling assassin - mesmerising actually! in other words, it is a good capture Tara, bringing out the best (or worst?) well documented here, BB

Great shot and he looks pleased with himself.
I wouldn't tire of seeing many more of these. I appreciate the technical detail, as I now own the same camera (which i find to be very receptive in difficult light, and which you have captured very introspectively in this series). The enthusiasm is visible, but also subdued: It's a quiet enthusiasm, which thereby draws us into the man. All these portraits, though candid, have a 'posed' feeling to them only to the extent that they have perfection in each capture: You got real 'moments' which stand by themselves...The slightly pinkish hue of his face stands out subtly from the b&w. And your background is soft and gentle, like a rolling light & dark, the kind of work one usually can create only a studio. Soft, gentle and almost devotional, this series was a quiet joy from start to finish. We feel we entered into the quiet realm of the inside of each person you captured. And your semi-monotonal work was often modulated with the subtlest colors. Sorry to see the series end!
