Description
Athalia species.
The Athalia species are extremely hard to tell apart. All species, of which some 10 species are present in Britain, are yellowish red and have a variable amount of black markings and light ringed legs.
This might be a Turnip Sswfly, which fly in May.

It is indeed a Turnip sawfly Andrea, I once had a shot of one of these face on on Queen Ann lace, I will try to see if I can dig it out and rework it, mind you, it may be one of the ones I lost in a HD failure :{ Athalia rosea to give it it's rightful name, great shot too!!
