Description

This little boy is a gray fox. His mother was hit by a car. A very kind person noticed something moving and stopped to check to see if the mother was alive. Most people don't know that alot of babies will stay with a dead mother untill they starve.. All they know is that they should not leave mom. They don't understand that you are trying to help when you take them away. As you can see, he is sure that I am going to kill him. Mom is gone and a monster has him. He will settle down to some degree. I know this is not the best quality shot, but I do very limited picture taking at first when a baby is this scared. I just wanted you to see his face. To see the feeling in his eyes.

In my experience, it is the worst time. Not only the fear but getting past that fear so they can be fed... I've had little ones refuse until they are unable to stand and I have to tube feed them. It only increases the fear when you have to do that but if you can get that far, at some point they will settle enough to allow a more normal feeding. Great picture. Brings back years of good memories for me and almost makes me want to start doing wildlife rescue again. Key word... Almost. :-)

Poor Baby. I never knew they stay with their mom, that brought tears to my eyes. This little one had a Guardian Angel looking over him that Night and I do hope he will settle and at some point in the future be released back into the Wild.

I hope he can survive. He is a beautiful being, full of innocence. No baby, human or animal should suffer or be terrified. May God bless you for your dedication.

How cute he is. But, he seems to be bristling, and tail between his legs. The look in his eyes, as you point out - traumatized by the accident, mom dead, then him being taken away, he doesn't understand anything. Probably ready to bite to defend himself. And that huge black thing that looks like a big evil eye (the camera lens) - help! I wonder how old and how big he is. His hind legs look a bit knock-kneed - I hope they are OK. I appreciated MrsLubner's comment about the feeding problem - probably because the food isn't coming from "mom" but instead, from a large, incomprehensible, frightening creature. I hope he makes it OK. In fact, I come to think of the young "Growly Pants" photo. Does this little fellow growl or yap, or is he too scared to? My - 5 photos posted so close together. I understand you've got a LOT to do with all the little ones. Please keep posting (as you are able). I love to be able to follow up. :-)
