Description
This little girl came to me after a stray dog
killed her mother and litter mates. She had
a large wound on her side. I had her about 2
weeks. As you can see, she is way to cute.
Sometimes though, the best I can do is not enough.
She died Sunday. I have days that I wonder why
I keep on. Then the phone rings again and another baby needs help. I feed a baby raccoon
it's bottle and it will reach up and touch my face with it's hand. Yes, they have feelings too.
I have so much appreciated the feedback from all of you. It is great to know that there are so
many people out there that know this.

I love that u care so deeply for all these animals cause without people like u some of them would never have a chance and at least someone cares.Love this awesome capture of her so sorry she died.

You do a wonderful thing taking care of animals. I had an Opossum as a pet about 20 years ago. He was really cool. Sorry this one passed away.

Condolences on your loss. I've never seen a photo of one this close. Once I went out in the AM to feed the neighborhood cats and one of these was in the feeder when I raised the lid. It backed off and I just said: Oh here then. And plopped a bowl of cat food in front. A minute later it sauntered out and worked its way through the herd of insane moggies (4 at that time) and just walked off. The bowl was half-empty. Oh great, now we've got a resident oppossum. :|

MY! This is the most close-up I've ever seen of an opossum! And here she looks quite well, but.... Her mouth is open - is she scared of the camera? I've read up on opossums as some have them as pets. They seem to be quite fragile animals, even when very well cared for they easily develop malnutrition problems and can get sick easily. It makes me wonder just how do they manage in the wild? It's fortunate you have many little ones to care for. It sure does hurt when one's efforts to save one don't succeed. But the needs of the others reminds one that life does continue and there are other "cases" that are successful! And, they have feelings. Yes, even eagles have feelings (see Jeff Guidry and his eagle "Freedom" on YouTube - a story that brought tears to my eyes)! Your photos of the little racoon girl from a few weeks back were so touching. I hope she's doing fine. Then comes "bug class" and "puff and growl at bad things class", and graduation day!(I still get a good laugh over these courses - I'd love to see one). Thanks for posting this beautiful photo of a beautiful little one. Keep up the good work! :-)

A beautiful photo of this sweetie. I'm sad that she passed on, but she had love and caring for her short life. Sometimes you have to pick up the pieces and move on, knowing that you tried.
