Description
To escape the madness in my house, I fled to the backyard to deadhead the roses and some other little things that needed to be done. This is one of the roses that caught my eye, so I ran in for the camera (which I had all set up for the bathroom photos..:P ...btw, which is why I needed to escape the house... bathroom renovations continue). This is one of my two favorites I took. The other one is similar, so I probably won't be posting that one. I hope you like :)
My previous upload, "Dielectric Union", is from the br renovations. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.
Have a great week!
Hugs,
~Melinda~

Absolutely Lovely!! :)
Funny that I should see this. I was just recalling a conversation I'd had with a friend a while back (the friend also happened to be my landlord, and we were painting an empty apartment, getting it ready for the next tenants and I was getting a hefty discount on my rent and a hefty load of coffee, followed late that night, with an even more copious amount of beer. Some landlords are pretty cool!) Anyway, we were talking language stuff and he told me about the expression, "dead as a doornail." It was a long and convoluted story, as I recall, but essentially a "dead" door nail is one that's bent at nearly a right angle. The bent portion of the nail crosses diagonally across another "dead" doornail, forming a cross, if I remember the story correctly. I thought of that when I read the name of this rose, and for some reason, I was wondering if it somehow grew at a right angle with its head "bent" across the head of a neighboring rose. Sometimes I wonder about the way my mind works and I find myself amazed that it even works at all! That's a really convoluted way to go about making a comment here, but there you have it. This is a great picture, even without the rakish evocations sparked in my mind. I love the color and the almost velvet texture of the rose petals. This is quite marvelous. I have a ton of catching up to do and I hope to get at it soon. I like the fact that I saw this beauty, and will be back for more. This is great work.
a beauty it is !
Lovely shot of the rose, and I enjoyed Chip's comment too! Also, thanks for the link to your last upload which I has missed, dielectric union. I believe that is to stop the corrosion that would happen when two different metals are joined together, since a potential difference (voltage) would appear across the two metals causing a transfer of metal from one to the other. I didn't know these existed as it was a bit off of my field, and I've never seen one. Now, there you have two long-winded comments, LOL!
Superb capture my friend. God Bless.
