Description
The Moon is only 356.955 ks from Earth today - 14% closer than in the last 18 years - and 30% brighter, there you go ... did you see this little phenomena?
***
BTW, I used 2 pix of mine - for a 'mix & match', to make this occasion a bit more memorable ...
apart from the Moon - also a white and sulphur-crested (yellow) Cockatoo (when you spot them during the day!), with a voice so loud, raucous and like unpleasant screeches, they like sitting in my pine trees 'She-oaks' (Casuarinas), you can actually hear them cracking open the seeds with their powerful beaks...
Cheers - I am back in business ;)

I LOVE this! What a marvellous piece! We've seen the moon, but didn't know it was closer. That's what happens when you're out in the wilderness. :P Thanks for the info! :)
Great capture and mix
Mmm, now that's close, I bet all the mice on Earth just had a meltdown, I mean if the moon is still made of cheese that is ! Nicely presented spectacle BB and the back lighting with the postwork bitz are just right ! Well done & ~Cheers~
Original capture!
OUTSTANDING! What a marvellous work! We had complete cloud cover so there was no point in looking.
This is a super compilation BB and I am envious of you having clear skies.
oh moon and Kakadu! must be wonderful down under... perfect postwork and picture Brigitte, love it!!
OUTSTANDING CREATION!
magnificent picture
I hope I converted it correctly, but, according to your kilometer figure, I came up with 221,800 miles from the earth to the moon. That is close, astronomically speaking. But I digress. Cool blending and manipulation of the silhouetted cockatoo foreground with our planet's satellite up there in the sky, Brigitte.
A super image with the large moon in the background, and yes I did see it last night. I was hoping it didn't get any closer in case it triggered another earthquake as the big ones seem to happen at a full moon. I love the cookatoos and always look out for them when I'm in Australia in spite of them being noisy they sound great to me. Excellent work and finish on this image.
Fantastic comp. Brigitte! we don't have Cockatoos, but we have theri cousins (parrots, macaws and parakeets), and I love these types of birds. They are really funny and beautiful. Your image is powerful, great work!
Great capture and composition!
Super capture and manipulation
Wow, fabulous moon shot with that great Cockatoo. Yes parrots are the noisiest of neighbors but they certainly do make lovely models for your photos. :) Gorgeous shot.
A great pic you are presenting here, dear BB-chen! A superb shot, and interesting info too. The moon and mood are fantastic. I can imagine the mood what one could feel at that time, a bit jealous maybe I am ;-). Would there be with you :P ! Take it easy BB-chen, and have fun, by being back in business ;) Many hugs, your Jacominchen ♥
Have been some great images of the event! I like your take on it too!
Wonderful work!!! I love how you created this!! The skies cleared enough to see the moon here as well!!! B.
Fantastic capture. Got a small glimse of this awesome sight. It was very cloudy and some rain, poor view. Very interesting info of the cockatoo. Pretty but most noisy birdies..
Great one - great work, Brigitte!! :o)
A fantastic photo of the moon and I like the merged results with the Cockatoo photo!
