Description
This is the crown of a Sago palm, in Veterans Park, Delray Beach, Florida. In the center is the female reproductive structure (thanks to Wikipedia). This very symmetrical plant supports a crown of shiny, dark green leaves on a thick shaggy trunk that is typically about 8 inches (20 cm) in diameter. It can grow to about 20 feet (6–7 meters) tall but that takes 50 to 100 years. This one was about 7 feet (2.1) meters tall and this was an over my head blind shot while standing on a park bench. The Cycad Sago Palm is extremely poisonous to animals (this includes humans) if ingested. Some info from Wikipedia.
Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated.

Great capture and info Dana. I can attest to the slow grows. I had one planted when I bought my house in 1999 and it is about 3.5-ft tall. So it grew about 2-ft in 13 years. It looks great but why didn't I ever think of taking a picture of it. On your comment to the F-106. It was cleared to climb to 15,000-ft (after all this is an international airport-so nothing higher) and it looked fantastic in a near-vertical climb with the delta wings!
Great capture, Dana!Great POV !
