Description
These are the bell ropes in the bell tower of St Mary's church, Chard. The ropes are in the 'up' position meaning that they are stowed safely. The church carries a peal of eight bells.

and so cool with the colors here ! interesting shot!!
Very appealing, Jeff! Clive
lovely shot Jeff, brought a lump to my throat as i used to be a bellringer myself and the sight of all those Sallys is a great memory
as quasimodo said...'that rings a bell'
Eight bells is great..the church I can hear from here has six and it doesn't really make for a satisfying sound. It is the place where my banners hang that I took so long to make, BTW. You can see them http://www.flickr.com/photos/16054928@N07/sets/72157625102416370/ if you are interested, Jeff.
love those ropes 'made pretty'!!! wonderful shot!!! (think (! ;-D) cows are friesians. 'from' our province of Friesland)
Very cool but where are the bells darn it wanted to see them lol.
Very nice picture. I like the colors around the ropes.
Oh, cool! I've never seen how these work before. Great shot!

Brilliant, did you see the pretty boy in the C&I the other week playing hand Bells.
Beautiful ropes. Excellent and interesting shot, I like the perspective.

I can imagine all that in action.

GREAT SHOT
How interesting. Excellent shot :D
Fantastic image. I like very much the colors
this is super cool
This is so cool Jeff...might there be any bats in that belfry? Have never seen the arrangement of ropes before...most interesting.
Now you've got me wondering how a novice bell ringer practices! They'd hardly want their mistakes pealed out over the town! Terrific image ... it's interesting to see the way they keep the ropes separated.
Interesting capture!
Great shot and I didn't know that they pulled up the ropes when not in use.
must be very old as the woodwork looks that way.the bells music must be beautiful
Very nice picture, Jeff !
