Description
Wasn't sure if I ought to categorize this as Historical since technically it is prehistorical in subject matter. Heh! Ah well.
Background is one of HoboBo's recent postings at ShareCG. I added a rough terrain instead of the flat one he provided but still used his foreground texture for it. Pushed the background picture back a bit and added a river texture by Gill Brooks with an eco-system of AsileFX's "Crack Willow" from Cornucopia3d. Dressed them in the kilt from Chris Cox's "Cavefolk" (Renderosity) and gave them Poser World's "Primitive Spear" prop (although I shortened it because the Neanderthal's used only short stabbing spears, not longer throwing ones). I also added aerysoul's "LA Hair". I wasn't too happy with the head morphs that RawArt made, so I tinkered with them to make them look more the way I understand the Neanderthal looked.
I've always been fascinated by the Neanderthal and wondered what they were like. I don't think they were nearly the brutish characters of movies and comic books.
By the way, in the last decade, two other close homo cousins have been found. One from Central Siberia and another--the Red Deer People--in southwestern China.
Guess that's it for now. I may post a portrait of my two hunters tomorrow. Or not! We'll see.

The figures are so wonderfully integrated with Bo's background. Excellent work on the figures too.
bonne image!
Nice historical piece.
Awesome Render Jeremy!!
Very nice! I wonder if the genes for blue eyes and red hair, supposedly recent mutation might have come from Neanderthals. I know they had genes for red hair anyway. I'm familiar with the Denisova find - central Siberia, but not the Red Deer People.
Excellent composition, Jeremy! Great lighting and details! :)
Nothing better than a little history lesson to go along with great art!...Winning combination every time!..
Nicely done, although I think a higher resolution foreground texture would suit it better....excellent work Jeremy!
a so good scene Jeremy!
Lol....and Jeremy...there are no desserts in Neanderthal (the Place they where named after)....but then again...who cares artistic freedom
Excellent et c'est le sujet de ma prochaine image. Very good composition.
Thank you.
