A truly imposing building, and there are those fab multicoloured bricks again! Your ohot with the shadow just starting over the doors makes me wonder how many young men felt their hearts sink as they entered for the first time.
A beautiful arched doorway wonderful brickwork and carving but its let down by those drab doors.
Beautiful Capture and dedication
Beautifully balanced photo. I like the US architecture which emulates old European styles. It's a bit sparing, like in arches versus the rest of a building. Here we have interesting brick work and horizontal stone work that makes this more interesting and impressive. Unfortunately, the doors are modern. I suspect the original doors were wood with panels and carved edges along the panels, and probably stained glass in the windows. The motto is that the hope of the next generation lies in the present one getting a good education. Nice photo. Keep up the good work! :-)

Great shot. Love the architectural details, the color tones & especially the shadows. The one thing that bothers me is that one little area of bright white which breaks the mood a bit. I would have photoshopped it out by blending it with the tree, but that's just me - I have no respect for purity or realism...

just beautiful, for Craig, with whom I know you've worked many times. And it's one of your most caressing architectural photos. The soft light & shadow make it feel like a dream. And the composition---allowing those now-familiar Romanesque door-arches to speak front & center, and yet not dominate (because of the beautiful shadow and glow)---works against the usual "frontal" compositions of architectural shot. I.e, it's soft & mysterious rather than frontal & 'expository'. ('Expository' is what a lot of commercial architectural photography goes for. As if it were a class-lesson rather than an artist's vision.) Also, you caught the Romanesque niche (w/ nothing in it, ala your previous joke in your gallery), the simple pilasters, the simple light 'trim' (the beltcourses), etc; and you framed it on top with perfection. But with all that, it's like a vision rather than a facade. Beautiful transformation! And it's just perfect for Craig, who has the presence & heart of a deeply embracing soul; kind, glowing & gentle. Happy birthday, Craig! And thank you, tara, for letting me know that saturday was his birthday. He's a gem. And re the pic, In a gallery of beautiful architecture shots, this is like a quiet & mystical hug. Beautiful shot & dedi.

Tara, thanks so much for this gorgeous image - I love the lighting and the beautiful symmetry of the design. I also love the motto - and yes, the seed is still growing...! By way of explanation, I'm late commenting 'cos Bridget and I went away for the weekend - we stayed in a luxury treehouse and just blobbed out for the duration - no internet, no exercise (no cats). Much needed and much appreciated (but not by the cats). We need to get away more often...
