Description
I was standing by the McDonald's on Hindley Street, Adelaide, waiting for an opportunity to take some night pictures. Next to me was a young man with a can in his hand. The two police officers came down the street, the police station is not far away, and were passing us. I kind of was watching them and was thinking to myself that I hadn't seen a mounted police officer since I had lived in New York City. There they were a common sight around Times Square and Central Park.
The officers had probably gone 20 to 25ft passed us when they turned around and came back and called the young man over. After a brief exchange, the young man emptied the contents of the can in the gutter, and put the empty can in a trash receptacle. He was just about to return to the building side of the sidewalk where we had stood before, when the officer called him back, and after another brief exchange the kid produced an ID and shortly thereafter the officer pulled out a pad and wrote him a ticket.
The whole process was so civilized that I didn't hear a word that was said, despite the fact that I stood right next to them. The officers also didn't mind that I took a picture.
When this was done the officers turned around and proceeded down the street again. I thought to myself if this had been in Phoenix, there would have been a crowd, somebody would have gotten angry and accused the officers of police brutality, or profiling, and most likely shots would have been fired.

Sig...
I do not know how I could take out the halo effect caused by the reflective tape. But the reflective tape on both, the horses and the officers, made me take the picture in the first place.

Superb capture my friend. God Bless.
nice ...
No need to take out the glare it would spoil this super surreal image.
This looks great with the halo effect Sig, glad you didn't take it out!
Coole Szene und Geschichte!!!
The policemen look like ghosts! Very fine effect! Thanks to share! Hope the poor boy could stand it...
Now that's the way to go at night very cool.
This is Shining.
the halo effect looks like ghost ,great moment nightshot
This is a fantastic capture Sig! Great story
Very nice shot!
If only they would do that here... But the same thing would happen as Phoenix...minus the shots.. It would probably cause a full scale riot! No kidding... Really cool shot.. Nice effects, glad you left them.. Rob
wonderful picture!!
You can't miss these guys - they are certainly well lit! I also like that you got the POLICE sign in the top left corner! Great image Sig!
Interesting story. The reflective tape brings to mind the visual effects in Tron...
The glare of the tape makes the photo, Sig. A fine candid shot!
Excellent shot,interesting story!
Very cool night capture!!
Very nice capture. Especally like the effect of the reflect tape. I once took a picture of a parked police car at night and had the same effect. You do not notice the reflective tape much when you look at it, but the flash really brings it out.
Awesome Sig!!
Very interesting story. Great as light reflectors. Fantastic photo!
AMAZING WORK
Wonderful and very creative work
AWESOME Thanks for sharing!!!
Why on earth would you want to take out the halos? Good heavens ... they're the best part of the picture! All lit up like a carnival. Terrific image!
I have the same problem trying to take photos of railroad graffiti at night as all rail cars in North America are being fitted with reflectors. They also ruin shots in sunlight.
What a great shot, I live in Bundaberg QLD, & have never seen anything like that before.
Fantastic effect! Great capture! :)
At first I thought it was light tape on the horse.
I am glad that all was handled in a civilized manner.A nice glowing image.
