If you were to ask me why would I post this image knowing it's not all that? I'd have to say I just like the color of the sea. Although the lighting on the Pelicans in the full view is nice too!
This day was a cloudy one until the setting sun got under those clouds giving the sea a steel blue tint with all the suns glint.

I can see your point, Dana. This wouldn't have nearly as much impact if it had been a sunny, full color image. Beautiful textures and colors on the waves. Parts of it look like obsidian or glass.
Okay, I will admit it--this was one of those images that made me gasp when it came into view--stunning and lvoely shot--what a fabulous view it must have been in real life...
