Description
Today was another unseasonably (but probably will be the norm from now on, alas) warm day for January in Michigan. Not as warm as yesterday, but still far too warm and snow-less for my tastes.
Since my taunting of Mother Nature yesterday only produced a minor change, I decided to borrow a different page, and adapt a rain-dance to call for snow, instead. This, of course, required my own unique twist for good measure, because I just don't seem to have it in me to do things the standard way.
So I took the solidified elements of Magma, to call for the solidified elements of water. It almost makes sense!
As usual for my constructs of this type, no photoshop tricks, or glue or such. This is a temporary construct that relies on gravity and friction to hold it together. In time (usually a few hours, although most of this is pretty stable so perhaps days may pass) they will fall over and I'll get to make something new out of them.
Hope you all had a good weekend, and LET IT SNOW!

Wow! You should make a fire pit in the middle, then at night, it would look like the stone figures are all sitting around the fire....
nice work and concept...
they going to dance a 1000 years this way
Wonderful,
Well, hopefully this will invoke some snow for you, Mike! These balanced rock constructs are really a neat form of art. After a few days they re-arrange themselves (fall down) and you get to recreate something again - and it's always a little different. Very cool! It's almost like performance art. Either that, or you're secretly communicating with space aliens.... :-D Either way, I like it!
This gives a new meaning to a slow dance. This is a fine arrangement and photograph. We haven't had much snow here in Colorado, either.
There's a book called Slow Dancing with the Angel of Death. Somehow that title came to mind as I sat looking at this. I suppose winter could be considered the friend of the Angel of Death, when plants go dormant and whatnot. I hope your slow-dancing stones produce the desired result!
nice scene, beautiful stone sculptures
Great title and lovely circle of dancing stones~ Very appropriate sentiment! I like the suggestion of making a small fire in the center (out of twigs would be neat but then ... you'd be releasing more stored-up carbon and adding to the non-snow global warming... < my mind wanders... lol But perhaps a little fire would not hurt too much!)
Love the image! I hope the dance works 'cause we sure do need some snow. Winter in MI sure seems weird. Maybe I need to move to NM?
We're waiting for snow here in southern Oregon too - way overdue. Fascinating, gravity defying constructions here...
LOVE IT
