This is my entry into Val's contest to celebrate the release of her newest model Danysa. She is a beautiful girl. Thank you Val for hosting this contest, I got to try some different techniques to make winter work (I hope).
Someone said she is like a chameleon and I agree in the way she works with light. I have observed that models come in two basic forms in regards to how they behave with light. It is not a quality difference but just a difference. Here we see the two types of models in one set.
Nevil is the type of model that keeps his basic shaders intact no matter what the color of light that hits him. These models keep their skin color but reflect what hits them - here it is blue and orange but his rudy skin still blazes through.
Danysa is the other type. These models absorb the light that hits them, change their skin tones in response and gently radiate it back. Here you can see how her skin has changed dramatically from her basic pale caucasian and you can see the soft, even glow of the colors as they gently flow from her skin.
I did not plan this little lesson but it was fun, and challenging, to have the two types show up in one render!
The Lynx is by Lyne and it is available free! It works with the Milenium cat from DAZ.

Gorgeous! Love all the little details that you include in your images, and the technical comments always add another dimension to my enjoyment of your work.
Fantastic Work!!! love it :) Thank you so much Rox!
What a spectacular work, Roxy! As usual, you have raised the bar with this magnificent piece! Bravo! I bet this takes top honors! I've noticed that, too, about the different shaders - and here I thought it was just something in my coffee..... Now you're giving me ideas.... (again).... :-D Hope you have an awesome New Year's, my friend!
Just amazing!!!
the rich mix of colours in this image work so powerfully...well done friend
Beautiful work. Happy New Year!!!!!!
Wow! Exceptional image. A gorgeous couple and I the lighting is dramatic and moody. Love the colors. Purples and violets seem to convey hot and cold all at once. Excellent render and texture detail. Beautiful work.
Superb work on the textures and lighting.
Gorgeous! As I write this comment, I'm listening to the soundtrack to 300 and lemme tellya, track number 02: The Agoge goes really well with this image. From what I'm hearing and what I've looked at, alone, there are a few zillion stories I can tell...some of them are pretty dark and full of music that sounds as if it's been stolen from that pan-Slavic group, Kitka. Anyway, as I ramble, I should say that this is a brilliant composition and I love the intense color and the softer expressions. Also, in a kinda, sorta, spooky way, I have a friend in Saint Petersburg (Russia, not Florida) who looks kinda like the guy in this image...only not as buff and with more...um...Beethoven-type hair. It's funny how that works. I love the composition and the overall mood of this. It's funny, because I know people like these two, in terms of the ways in which their skin reacts to light and shadow. It would seem that the really pale xanthrocroid (pale white people) get milky in some shades of light, while melanocroids (darker white people) do keep their normal skin color, which--yep!--blazes through just about any light or shadow that hits it, except some shades of sodium vapor light, or that "heroin proof" blue light in Czech restrooms. I rather like the fact that a largely digital program mimicks human skin qualities like that, and you used it to wonderful effect here. Brilliant work! More is always welcome.
This is so beautiful. I wish you good luck for the contest and a happy new year, Roxy!
That's true, isn't it about the different skins. I'd noticed that as well but never until you put it into words did it gel in my mind. Beautiful lights and colors in this one, and you're right the light really shimmers on her skin. She's very pretty and this is an awesome composition, Roxy. Happy (Julian) New Year to you!
As always such awesome artwork Roxy, love everything in this scene.
Zoomed in and glad I did--this is just gorgeous girl--love the snow effects and what is cool is, when you zoom in, you can see the flakes in the hair--like almost a true saturation of snow--VERY nice--must have blown that up like 1,000 percent in PS to get those details--makes the zoom feature very useful tool when viewing your work--a def new fave
So beautiful! This is the ultimate fantasy image, soft but yet powerful. Beautiful color and lighting. Wonderful!
Very nice! I see what you mean. Talk tomorrow... Beautiful POV! HugZ! Ariana
Magnificent scene!
