Description
My Step-Mom got this phone over 50 years ago. she doesn't remember who or why, but she's had this for all this time. I fell in love with this and so I started gather information about it. Due to situations that I'd rather not discuss. I offered mom $75 for it and she agreed. Little did I know that she was going to give this phone to me for Christmas, as I was the ONLY one who expressed an interest in it.
I, before Mom even agreed to sell the phone to me, ordered the hand crank. It arrieved and I installed it and cranked it over. It was wonderful!!!
I've only to order the dry-cells that the phone need and then it is ready! and then I've got to figure out how to set it up to run on the current system.
The Technical/historical information is:
1909 Western Electric Crank Phone 317.

Fantastic old photo, wonderful documental photography my friend....!!!
ah...i love it Mike..i would like to have one! :D
Such a wonderful treasure Mike. Congrats on getting this little piece of history. I doubt that it can be hooked into the current digital systems, but that in no way takes away from its importance and beauty.
That's a classic, probably worth more than $75, I've been away, but haven't forgot y'all.
I do like unusual phones & this is wonderful!!!
Nice ... I like these old technologies ... Much better than our over-breeded 'slic'-stuff ... Sometimes i'm missing a normal phone with a dial ... And without the shrilling-coloured apps ... Just a thing to talk ... Or an computer who doesn't need an net-account, a software that is on a floppy or dvd - and the serial is in the printed handbook, no need to activate the thing about the damned net ...
A remarkable piece of the past... and it looks to be in fantastic condition. Nice!
Awesome piece!
Great, what a nice surprize for you.
omg! you brought a memory back that I have forgotten (or so it seemed) My great grandmother who I spent summers with in Ontario Ca had one and it was always something I thought I would love to have can u imagine what hers could have been worth she died at 102 yr of age: her son ,my uncle got it along with a whole lot of other things and cash and of course I have no idea who has it now It's a beautiful piece from the past and your a lucky guy mike wow LOVE IT!~~~
awesome old phone :-)
What a wonderful story and history. It's in great shape. I've only seen replicas. A wonderful gift.
Hey Mike, this is very cool!!! I'd be admitting my age if I said I remember these so I won't and don't remember these.
Fantastic capture!!!!!!
What a lovely old thing! I'm not sure if it will work with the new digital systems, but still, what a great phone!
Haven't seen one of those in a long time Mike!
a year older than my departed mother.outstanding subject
Wow! Really a wonderful, old phone! Really rare! Great shot!
This is so cool! if you can't get it working, it would look great mounted in your car :-)
that would be awesome if you can figure out how to get it to work :)
I do not think it would work in my neck of the woods. I think you turn the crank and say moshi moshi and wait for someone to answer in Japanese. I think you need an operator for these things and everything is automated today. Neat phone though
The first cell phone ;-) Great capture
The path that Bell is phenomenal as my friend. But I like this replica ((5 + +)) Le chemin que Bell a fait est comme phénoménale mon ami . Mais j'aime bien cette réplique((5++))
What a gorgeous rare antique telephone and so well kept. It might be hard to update it but it will look really good mounted on one of the walls. Awesome conversation piece!! Good luck, thanks for sharing Mike.
This is really amazing old phone mike..love it..
