Description
It's been two and a half months since we rolled into Chicago. A month and a half since we got back home. It seems like we were there a lifetime ago, or perhaps just yesterday. I'm never sure about these things.
That first night I took photographs of the street through our 14th-floor hotel window while we waited for Chip and Corey to arrive. Tripod set up, lens pointed at the famous Chicago Theater, I played around with light. Set the shot, clicked the shutter, moved the lens a bit to the left, shutter closed. Poof. Partial spin, no jiggle, and this was the result.
Looking back on that time, it seems like such a blur.
I've only recently started to look at my Chicago files with a critical eye. There are a lot of shots in there that I like very much. You'll be seeing images from those four days in Chicago for months to come!

This is my favorite view of this city...but most of that also has to do with the company. It was almost like hanging out with Pavl in Prague...only without a Czech accent, chain-smoking, and getting snockered and falling (once) into the Vltava River. Needless to say, it seems like a blur to me as well; the days/nights you were here and we were all hanging out remain at the forefront of my mind, but there's an odd time-dilation effect taking place too...it seems like yesterday, it seems like last year...and when I'm on State Street now, things get all shifty and slippery and un-stuck in time. Funny how that works. And as for this photo! I remember it on your screen and seeing the tripod setup. I love the colors and the linear blur in this. I also love the way it has the overall shape and proportions of a book cover! What's not to like about that!? Oh, and just so you'll know: I've developed quite an insatiable taste for pecan sandies!
Ha ha, Chicage was a blur for me too last time I was there sleeping in the airport in a blizzard...it really was a blur!
nice one
very good!
Quite a pretty blur Tara. Our trip to the US last May seems years ago now and I would love to go again.
14th floor? Ahrrrgh! GREAT image..what a super idea!
Great photo. Love the tones.
Nothing beats a good old fashioned theater marquee. I tried to eliminate blur...you added it...great idea. Love the colorful, creative results.
Wow! very cool effect
Oh, very well done; the colours are so THERE, if you know what I mean...I love the inherent movement that feels so deliberate and controlled. You are GOOD!
It is amazing how time flies--or crawls--and this foto is the perfect example. My time in Chicago was over two years ago and I feel the same way. Wasn't it just yesterday I went searching for the Redhead Bar???
Beautifully done--thanks!
EXCELLENT...totally excellent!
Very cool shot..... Well done!
Awesome Motion shot, as I call it. Wonderful colors too :)

A very effective blur you captured here, it makes a great abstract.
This really does give the impression of time just flying by! It goes so much faster when you're doing something you really love! A very cool neon abstract, Tara!
layers of colors how different it is in the views that watch simply wonderful warm hugs, Linda Kaye
