Description
Pyrocephalus rubinus.
I love these little guys. They're real easy to spot, not so easy to photograph, because it's rare for them to get THIS close. This fellow was maybe 6 feet away from me.
There were men fishing in the lake, and one of them asked what this bird was. It was fun to tell him.
Kennedy Park, southern Arizona, USA.

Nice catch on this beauty.
Wonderful colors, a excellent photography.....!!!!
what a lovely and fluffy bird !!beautiful capture !!
For me too it's the first time I see this beautiful bird (I missed a lot of beauties in Tucson's parks...) since its distibution range includes almost all of Mexico; it extends north into the southwestern United States, and south to scattered portions of Central America, parts of northwestern and central South America, and on southwards to central Argentina. Only the active ornithologists have sometimes the luck to see a bird so close... Thanks for sharing, Pat ! (as I mentioned on my FB page, the recent storm has pushed some rare birds (such as some Grey Phalaropes- Phalaropus fulicarius) in our country... one has been located very close to my home but unfortunately I'm very busy at work right now...) :~)
Beautiful capture! I don't believe I've seen one like this before!
Great shot! It would be awesome to ever see one of these!
He sure is pretty alright
