Description
We saw this buzzard last month in Frampas, a small village near Montier-en-Der.
Contrary to most of the raptors of this species, this bird was not timorous and did not fly away when we stopped the car in front of him.
Because of this different behavior, we thought it could be a Rough-legged Buzzard (Buteo lagopus) instead of a Common Buzzard (Buteo buteo)...
May be someone can help for the identification (more pictures to come) ?

a wonderful shot, i love your chosen depth of field
Judging by the colour of the talons I am quite sure this is a Buzzard (buteo buteo) not the rough legged. Nice shot.
Very nice image!!!
Terrific image love the dof-Look forward to seeing the other pics
Excellent capture.
Excellent shot of this lovely bird!
Beautiful and brave bird! Looks like a Buteo buteo arrigonii.
The subspecies arrigonii is known to live in Corsica and Sardinia... this one was shot in Champagne-Ardenne (northeast France)... :~)
Very beautiful capture !Splendid bird !

"Buteo buteo"
I've had a look in my bird book which suggests that the pale "U" shape across the middle is an identifier of the common buzzard, not the rough-legged. Hope that helps!
Wonderful shot.
