Description
I have captured this gorgeous little fellow at the Umgeni Bird Sanctuary in Durban, South Africa. He was a real show stealer. I'm not sure what kind of owl this is but I'm sure Danny will be able to enlighten us! He is real tiny!
I have learned on this day that owls with orange eyes like this one hunt during dusk and dawn, owls with yellow eyes hunt during the day and owls with dark eyes hunt at night... Some useless / useful trivia... depending on which side of conservation you are. For me this was fascinating as I always thought that all owls hunt at night!
Thanks for popping in and for your very kind comments and favs on my last upload.
Hugs

Fantastic owl and photo of it. Well done. PS thanks for the info on the eye colors.
Wow, perfect portrait, very sharp and nice,,fav
Wow!!! This is photography at it's best, stunning shot, better than a lot of pro stuff :)
What a gorgeous little critter he is!! Wonderful opportunity for you to get this close to him! Excellent shot! :o)
very cool image
I completely understand why this guy would steal the show! So charming!
Oh, what a SUPER pic! I mean, look at this little guy! Look at that mustache! It looks like he combs it meticulously, every day. I want one of those! I knew about the eye color thing, because I'm one of those nerds who collects useless information (you never know when an alien species might have a need of such things.) The eye color thing has to do with light reflectivity and all of that good stuff, just in case you wanted to know. And as for this little critter! I want to see one of these live and in person. And I still can't get over that mustache! How perfect!
Wow! Such a fabulous portrait! :D
The photo is exquisite and you blew me away with your narrative. I also thought that all owls hunted at night. Love those eyes!
