Description
On the way home from church this morning, we spotted this turtle, trying to cross a divided highway, three lanes on each side. A quick U turn, with the help of some friendly drivers, that slowed down to block traffic and s/he was in our trunk. Straight home and after a quick photo shoot s/he dove into the lake behind our home. I don’t have a very good reptile guide, so the best that I can tell, this is a Cooter. They can grow up to 15 7/8 inches (40.3 cm) long and this one was about 2/3 that size. South Florida is a great place to live.
Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated.

Poor thing! I hope he/she survives the cold spell!
Awesome collage Dana!!!!
good for you I most likely done the same but I would have put it across the road in a safe place as i live in a city
Aren't they usually shy creatures? I'm surprised he stuck his head out just for a photo shoot. Nice post!
Like the one showing the escape towards the pond!
Good for you mate, well done.
great resque action !! beautiful collage of this lucky turtle !!
well done, and he thanked you by posing nicely.
Gppd for you! I once had a couple of fairly similar turtles as pets, and they were called Red-eared sliders. The female got a cancer at about 4 years old and then the male died of her loss, the vet said. He just pined away. But someone I know has a pair for more than 30 years! She brings them indoors in our colder winters.
Stunning captures my friend.
Good man Dana and some great shots to repay your kindness.

Wow....these guys need some reflectors on them so traffic could see them. Nice shot. Aloha
How kind of you to provide a new home for this lost Turtle and luckily you also had a lake for him/her to dive into - let's hope you see her/him again ? ... in the first pic, the Turtle could almost be mistaken for a rock, I know I did - Lovely collage, Dana BB
