Description

USS Minnesota (theSchell- ShareCG) wearing the weather during the world tour by the United States' "Great White Fleet" - the ultimate in gunboat diplomacy- a few years before the "Great War"- which as it turned out was to be World War ONE... This is the first time I've used the model in Vue... Its been sitting there in my Runtime, so I thought it was about time to send it round the Cape again to wash the dust off it. I love these old pre-dreadnought "porcupines", festooned with far too many guns; and the cannons are often mounted in absolutely all the "wrong" places. Its like their designers sailed with Lord Nelson or something... Mind you, given how much of this battleship is underwater in these "high seas" its arguably also a revolutionary battleship-submarine!!! As always, thanks for viewing and comments etc...

Great open ocean rendering, indeed a rough ride, and the water's way to deep for my liking!

Everybody below decks, moaning in their bunk.Great seascape, the water and spray are awsome.Well this will definitely have gotten rid of the dust, trouble is you'll need a wire brush to get rid of the rust.......now pass the bucket, I don't feel so good....

Biggest problem with those old ships was that the secondary heavy guns all sat just above the water line on a good day... in rough seas like this they were next to useless... but there's just something about those old ships that makes them stand out... they had a very unique style to them that seems to give them a certain amount of grandness and majesty that newer ships just didn't have... and ty for the mention :)

Ah, well, actually, you have her painted in wartime battleship gray.... the ships of the Great White Fleet, where painted just that... white.
