Description
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Bill and many, many more.
I know that I have done Iguanas before but this guy has it all and he is running free – not in a cage or at the zoo. The large dewlap under his chin can be inflated to attract females, intimidate rivals or scare off predators. The large round scales on his cheeks are known as the subtympanic shield. That’s another indication that you are looking at a male, this guy is about 30 inches (76cm) long. He has a third eye (Parietal eye), visible as a pale scale, on the top of the head and used for sensing changes in light such as an aerial predator. An iguana's ear is called a tympanum and is found right above the subtympanic shield and behind the eye. Check out the claws and he has a nasty set of sharp teeth. Taken with my old Minolta. Some info from Wikipedia.
Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated.

Very cool capture and gift to Bill
Those are some vivid images. I have seen a few feral/wild iguanas down here never have they been that shade of orange.
Precious reptile Dana, amazing skin details, splendid capture!
What an amazing creature - so much detail in your photos! Great dedication, Clive
Nice one Dana! And with all the dragon flies offered up to Bill, it is so fitting that you give him an iguana to dine on the dragons!
Stunning shots!
This is a really handsome little reptile and some very interesting info too Dana.
Great that he is free..some stupid folk here keep them as pets and then get bored and dump them by the road.
Thanks Dana!!! This gift proves there is always more to learn. I've learned a lot from your post tonight. These are beautiful animals in their fine skin...which BTW reminds me of fine chain mail. Thanks again and well done.
Beautiful but dangerous and i agree with dbb Terrific clear capture of this animal-tfs
