Description

This is little fellow was waiting for our return to south Florida. He is a House Gecko, a lizard belonging to the family Gekkonidae and found in warm climates throughout the world. They range from less than an inch to 2 feet. This little one was hanging around our front door and is about 2cm. This is their normal colors and you can tell how young he is because of the size of his head compared to his under developed body. If he survives to adulthood, he will be 5 to 6 inches (12 to 15 cm) long. There are over 2,000 Gekkonidae species and many species are very colorful. He climbed into my hand all by himself and did not try and sell me car insurance. Sorry about the hairy arm. Do zoom he is cute! Thanks for stopping by my gallery, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

2 feet? Wow! I haven't seen any of these yet that came in at more then 2 inches. Wouldn't want a two foot one coming into my house anyway. ;) Excellent capture and details! :)

Great capture, Dana! There are far more ugly and the women scream when they see them! Julia has seen one in his room, so small, has fled, I had to go to force her off!

I love these guys! I rescued one from my house a few days ago. With the cats, my house is not a very welcoming place for them. I scooped him up and felt him wriggling inside my cupped hand as I carried him outside. I looked around to be sure there were no cats watching and opened my hand on the brick wall near the door. He paused for a minute on my finger and then leaped down and was away. They are such pretty little guys. Excellent capture! Wonderful detail and color!
