Description

This is just to test out some "Marsden Matting" or PSP pierced steel planking that I made down in the shop. Many historians give more than a nod to this ubiquitous invention as having a significant role in winning the war in the Pacific. I don't know anything about that, but I do know that it makes one hell of a "portable runway". I wanted to try out some techniques for having it show sand coming through the pierced holes. Usually, for the runways, it was covered with a layer of crushed coral to make a firm surface. Actually, the sheet in the lower right corner has been adjusted to accommodate the round holes instead of the distorted ovals in the main body. I mostly used bump map and trans map technology. Looks pretty convincing to me, great render Bill, I like the SBD but always prefered the Helldiver for some reason...probably just the name :-) Love the title of this as much as the image, great work all around.....
