Description

I recently visited a re-creation of a 1646 Blacksmith shop, at the Saugus Iron Works, Saugus, Massachusetts. I watched the blacksmith making nails and a hook latch just like this one. The nails were the old fashion square head nails and there are a few used in this photo. The circle markings, on the latch, were made with a tool, used to punch holes in a leather belt. The iron was red hot at the time and then flipped into a bucket of water. The two loops were bent nails. A very interesting day. I also like the textures, in the wood, used to build this storage shed. The iron works was modeled after a similar iron works in Wales, England. Zoom works to get a closer look at the textures. Thanks for stopping by my gallery, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

Especially like the textures of wood and metals. The different directions in grain from door and wall planking works well here too, and a nice POV!

A detail that looks back in time. Very interesting for how these were made, and I have seen the square head nails before. The textures and lighting really make this a show piece. Great work on this image.
