Description
It's an uphill walk of about a mile to find this spot and worth every inch. I got there before the crowds, and was able to enjoy my early morning hike.
This was the scene of a tragic accident this summer. 3 people were swept over the falls after ignoring the warning signs. There are posters with their fotos at the foot of the falls, asking people to watch for any sign of two of them; they have never been found.
I've been spending several days a week with a friend who has no internet. In fact, he lives totally off the grid, and it's a quiet, peaceful and a beautiful place. I might not be around too much, so if I miss commenting, please forgive me.

The young people you speak of lived not far from me. That was very tragic, and hopefully it tells others to obey the signs. The falls in Yosemite are swift, and mighty. Great capture of the falls.
One challenges nature at one's own risk! However, one can appreciate Nature in all of its grandeur in this way...safe behind the working end of a camera! What a shot this is too...what scale! This is quite impressive and I love the colors. As for life off the grid...there is a part of me that would enjoy that immensely, but I do need my internet! Ah, but wait...Cricket sells laptop modems that you just plug in...instant access for a monthly fee and you can take it anywhere! I love Cricket. Cheap and effective. Emphasis on cheap. I love this shot too! It's majestic. And don't worry about missing any commenting time: just sit back and enjoy being off grid! The world opens up in so many different ways in situations like that.
Such a shame they did not heed to the warning. Prayers to them. Aloha
Nice capture of these falls Marilyn what a view point!!
wowwww
cool warm hugs, Linda
It's not that they can't read, people think it won't happen to them. Then there are the ones with no common sense. Just look at the raw power coming over that edge, one must have respect, or risk losing all. Nothing like an early morning hike, great spot to stop and take in the view!
What a beautiful shot, majestic waterfall, excellent capture!
Gosh! Nature demands respect, and not just in the big things like this.
Hey I've just posted a death related photo too!!!!!!! Great minds think alike. ;)
Sorry to hear about the deaths. very lovely photo
Very impressive image. I like how the falls serve as a backdrop for the leaves. The three who lost their lives not only ignored the signs but had to climb over a metal railing to get into the water. They really had to work for it.
I love that glow at the bottom...beautiful capture!
wonderful
I can only enjoy the captures you present as I'd never be able to hike this...(sigh)...Thanks for the Wonderful Capture!..
when people from other places would visit California whenever they would asked if we had this and that we would mean it in ajoking way and say ' YOO...SAY... MITE" ( Yosemite THERE'S EVERYTHING UP THAT WAY:::AND THIS IS A BONUS!~
I can feel the spray on my face and can see it coating my lens...well, maybe not quite, but I love the power and majesty of this place. Well done!!!
Fantastic capture. I had never taken that hike out to Vernal and now I see that I missed a great hike. Dana
