Description
Dutch explorers were unimpressed by the desolate prospect of the "New Holland" coast, a treacherous reef-pocked shore that book-ended their journey to the riches of Batavia (modern Java).
Centuries later, northern Australia must have seemed like paradise to the crews and refugees on the last aircraft fleeing the overrun Dutch East Indies.
Unfortunately... they were followed.
Lt Zenjiro Miyano (X-182, 3rd Air Group) took a force of nine Mitsubishi A6M2 "zeros" south from Kupang in Timor to Broome on the morning of March 3rd, 1942 -accompanied by a "Babs" reconnaisance aircraft. His orders, to knock out Broome's airfield.
The tail code for the "Babs" is just a guess. History and flight-sim enthusiasts are not really into recce planes.
Thanks everyone for your encouragement. Here is the first of two renders of a new model I've been working on.
Rendered in Vue 8 Esprit
I modelled the Mitsubishi C5M2 (or Ki-15) "Babs" in Shade 10.5.
Thanks for viewing.

Nice models! A little known facet of history here!
So cool!! never seen a model of the 'Babs' before, looks great.Excellent realism, brought to life by the history behind it.
Nice work and also an interesting reference to early history, which sounds like that part of Australia could easily have become Dutch instead of British.
