Description
...in the USA we have people who love to dress up as reenactors of all sorts.
...here we see a man dressed in all the proper garb of a WWII fighter pilot, c.1944. He is sitting in the cockpit of a P-51B Mustang in the hangar of one of our two collections of WWII aircraft.
...the young lady is wearing the garb of a member of the WASPs (Women Air Service Pilots). These skilled lady pilots ferried all sorts of fighters, bombers and transports to free men from that duty during WWII.

Great shot, Bill! For some reason, when I first saw this, I thought "Wow! Bill's got himself a copy of Poser!" LOL! Looks like they're having a reall good time. I would be, too, sitting in the front office of a 'Stang! Love this photo!
It looks like he got a few. Nice one Bill.
Great candid portrait, looks like a movie scene- thanks for sharing! :)

Whatever floats your boat, as we say here. Super pic, though.
Great shot and lovely to see even if it is only acting.
great shot and reenactors Love the outfits.. Nice shot Bill..
we have a few here too...
The women ferry pilots were a remarkable bunch because they had to qualify on a lot of different aircraft because they flew everything. One of these ladies taught flying with my brother and I always wanted to meet her, but only recently learned that age has caused her memory to depart for clearer skies.
I never even knew there were women pilots back then.....interesting info and photo.
Great bit of information and a beautiful photo
HA! What a strange hobby :) But this is an excellent shot. :)
We have the same here, dressing up from Cromwells time etc. Lovely shot!!!
Great photo and narrative Bill!!!
Something you'll find in many parts of the world, neat if you can get the aircraft to go with it :-) The little girl 'nose-art' looks familiar but I can't place it, got any more pics of this beauty..?
SUPERB IMAGE!
marvelous capture!
Excellent render Hugs Susan~
What a cool vision into the past; excellent shot!
Yeah, I thought "Wow what a Poser render". Nice shot!
Wonderful shot of these two! It looks like they were having a great time. :) Nicely captured!
Ah...reenactors! Such an interesting human phenomenon! I should be in bed now, but I'm peeking around galleries and I have to say that this is a stunning image. Of course, the only reenactors I know are a couple of Civil War history buffs, though one of them will, occasionally, don a Starfleet uniform as well, complete with a prop-quality phaser and comm-badge with a matte finish, rather than the jewelry-quality finish so common to the comm-badges you can buy. I love the poses in this shot: so casual, so on duty, but during a lull...Super. And now, I'm off to bed.
So, Bill, caught you in the act! And don't tell me that ISN'T you in the cockpit! :) This is really a fantastic photo - so rich in details and color! The WASP sure adds a lot to the image. Good job! :-)
The Mustang is on everybodies list of favorites and with 7 kills this one goes higher on the list. This is a great share Bill! Dana
Looks real neat to see!!!
wonderful moment captured, Bill!... aren't we all reenactors? trying to satisfy the child's dreams
