Description
When I stood, in front of the Admiralty Arch (last nights posting) I was in the middle of the hustle and bustle of London. When I stepped through the arch (which is actually a large office building), I walked into a tranquil Mall. The Mall in central London is the road running from the Admiralty Arch at its eastern end to Buckingham Palace at its western end. The Mall is closed to traffic on Sundays, public holidays, and on ceremonial occasions. The surface of The Mall is colored red (using synthetic iron oxide pigment) which gives the effect of a giant red carpet leading up to Buckingham Palace. On the left is a statue of Captain James Cook (1728 to 1779) was a British explorer, navigator and cartographer. To the right is the Royal Marines Memorial commemorating both the Boer War and Boxer Rebellion in China 1900. It is a delightful 0.6 mile (1 km) walk to the Queen Victoria Memorial in front of Buckingham Palace. Some info from Wikipedia and the official London site. May 1995 photo scanned. Zoom will give you a better look of both statues.
Thanks for stopping by my gallery, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated.

Excellent POV employed to display the elegant and beflagged historic Mall, Dana. Really like the London ambience of it all. And a far cry from what we call a mall around my neck of the woods.
A good perspective shot of the Mall.
I like this. wonder why all the cars the same lol

Well, look at that...they're all driving on the wrong side of the road. ha ha! Nice shot Dana!
Cool capture and great description Thanks
Very good photo!
Do you know I never noticed the red, and I've been there a few time! Most interesting, Dana!
Due to the lack of general traffic it is a clear run for the London Taxi as we can see here and according to you Dana they will all be on the wrong side of the road!! This is a really good shot and I have been here several times in the past myself.
Never seen the mall in real, dear Dana. This is a sterling capture. Hugs for all day. Love those flags! Di. xx

Wonderful capture Dana.
IMPRESSIVE
The top!
A beautiful capture of this lovely mall with the bright flags against the green trees.
Oh, I love this shot and it reminds me that when I do eventually get to the UK, especially London, the first thing I'll probably do is get hit by a car; I mean, they drive on the wrong side of the street, after all. Okay, enough of that; this is a super shot and I love the vanishing perspective. Great sense of pomp and all of that deliciously English royalty stuff that seems to ooze out of every pore, crack, and crevice of London. I love those giant Franz Kafka automotive beetles--um, I mean, taxis--too!
Excellent shot, Dana; love the history!
maybe one of these days I will be able to go there.outstanding capture
