Description
Admiralty Arch is a large office building in London which incorporates an archway providing road and pedestrian access between The Mall, which extends to the South West, toward Buckingham Palace, and Trafalgar Square to the North East. It was designed by Sir Aston Webb, who also worked on Buckingham Palace. It adjoins the Old Admiralty Building, hence the name. The building was commissioned by King Edward VII in memory of his mother Queen Victoria, although he did not live to see its completion. A Latin inscription along the top reads:
In the tenth year of King Edward VII, to Queen Victoria, from most grateful citizens, 1910.
Some info from Wikipedia and the official London site. I realize that the photo is off center. May 1995 photo, from my trusty old Pentax, scanned. Zoom works well!
Thanks for stopping by my gallery, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated.

PS: I would like to take credit for the sepia effects in my last post but that was how the light was that day. NO POSTWORK. This was London in May. Think rain!

Beautiful architecture and awesome capture of it!!
Superb! This is really marvelous and you've captured so many details! I'd love to visit there, and I have a few reasons to--once I get back in travel mode again, though I'm heading to a more...um...continental destination. I really like the sense of scale you have captured here, as well as the detail. I can easily get wonderfully lost in meandering around all of that stone work.
