Description

This Hagiwara Gate is one of the transition gates from the lower gardens to the five story Pagoda area, Japanese Tea Garden, San Francisco, California, USA. It was named after the Japanese immigrant and gardener Makoto Hagiwara who designed the bulk of the garden and was officially appointed caretaker in 1894. Scanned photo from early 1980s. Thanks for stopping by my gallery, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

Magnificent building, and looking through into the garden. I've never seen something like that. Someone could live in there, but I guess not :)

It's really neat how they designed the facade of the gate, so elaborate with exquisite details.
