Description
This is one scary looking bird. Good thing I was bigger than him or I'd have run when I spotted him.
Thanks for looking and your comments

Well, normally I'm a big fan of B&W picture... but in this case I'm not sure it is as effective as the color version... :~)
I love this in b&w! The bird stands out nicely, the branch he's on is a wonderful compositional element, and the grass and reeds, while a bit busy, show his environment beautifully without interfering with the main subject. Nicely done!
lovely b/w

I love that stoop-shouldered pose and the way he's surveying his domain...well...probably looking for something tasty. They do that, ya know. What I really like about this shot is the way it comes across...the way you captured it. Some aspects of this seem like a drawing or an etching of some sort and yet it's crisp and clear in that wonderfully photographic way. All-in-all, this is a stunning, nicely engaging shot. I rather like the way this image seems to direct the viewer in two directions...there's the Heron anchor, giving you that mean does of heron-eye, and then there's the way in which the foreground and background reveal themselves in relation to the heron, making it really feel as if you're approaching this gentleman from a slight angle. I really like the way that works.
