...taken yesterday.
...background was grey.
...color version was relatively colorless.
...tried a variety of Virtual Photographer filters and used "Century" here aiming to create an atmosphere.
...brought visions of a WWII German fighter pilot to mind...waiting to intecept a sky full of bombers coming from England.
...why German? Here, pilot Steve Hinton, prepares to take off in the beautifully restored WWII German Focke-Wulf FW 190 A-5 from the Flying Heritage Collection at Paine Field, Everett, Washington.

nice pic
This makes a superb silhouette Bill, worth the work you have put into it.
Fantastic capture and mood!
super image
excellent in this coloring !!
Catches the long boredom before the sudden tension perfectly, Bill. And when the alarm sounds, no time for toilet visit or a bite of food. The lone man in his machine. Good use of the filter and light situation. Keep 'em coming! :-)
Perfect post work for this Bill!
Awesome result Bill. Love the undertone of anticipation!
Great silhouette image Hugs Susan~
Fabulous filter work Bill this does give an aged look to this photo.. he better watch out Snoopy is on the way over the channel lol..
Whatever you did, it worked perfectly. I really like the atmosphere you've created.
Very clever stuff!
I made a model of one as a kid Bill and I can remember it having a flame like pattern at the front. Great stuff mate.
Outstanding silhouette!!!
Great shot and postwork. Love it.
awesome image
Images of Snoopy cursing the Red Baron come to mind...skillfully done, this is a truly excellent image!
OUTSTANDING!
Brilliant, couldn't mistake that profile..Steve or the '190', PLEASE tell us you got more shots of this.....
Terrific POV, clarity and silhouetting in this sepiatone-like capture, Bill. I'm afraid he won't stand much of a chance against the P-51 fighter escorts when the Fortresses arrive.
Outstanding end result.
A wonderful capture and a superb end result.
I love the way this turned out. Really fine work, and worth every filter you tried and discarded along the way!
cool shot
Fantastic job Bill. It may be a German aircraft, but the yellowish tint hints of a hot, dusty sunny sky, maybe like Libya? There are very few days in Germany I have seen a sky like this. Am I splitting hairs? Sorry Bill, it looks fabulous! bDefinitely a must add to my favorites!
Great image!!!
A very excellent result of your work, Bill :)
Nicely colored silhouette!
Great lighting, love this close crop- thanks for sharing! :)
