Description
Chilopsis linearis
This plant has edible flowers and seed pods. They can be used to make tea. A poultice made from the plant is good for skin conditions, and will draw out poison in puncture wounds. The wood is used for construction and the branches for making baskets. The tree is widely used as an ornamental. I think I found this cluster of blossoms in the Tucson Botanical Gardens, if I remember correctly. In the wild, the blossoms are pale pink; I think these have been bred for additional color.
