if the only thing on the road were these small boxes then maybe yes.these and semi trucks does not mix.my former Z3 was bigger but too small with a semi driving 70 MPH

The biggest problem with these cars is us. In order to make really fundamental changes to a car so that they become more eco friendly, you have to change a lot of elements, including the look. By and large humans don't like change very much. After all we've been warned about the environment since the early 70s, and look how long it's taking to start making cars like this. Most people don't tend to like things which look different to the one everyone else has.....unless you put some serious money into advertising. Would I drive one...hell yes. Would I like to be seen driving one....welll umm. An I going to make a CGI model of it? Hell yes:-)

I like them! But, could they have their own lane on the roads? :-)

to me these look like invalid cars. they tried to make it look like a regular car, i think it would be bettter if they made it look like a perfect water droplet with no reverance to old style cars. They also should be 100% electrical and drive on solar energy ;)

a friend at work has one. She is very happy in that she is saving so much money with it and it has enough room in the trunk to load 5 big bags of groceriesif I drove, I would gladly drive this

I drive a Dodge Ram 1500, so... Too much of a change for me. And I drive (or will, when I get back stateside) about 300 miles every weekend. I need knee and elbow room, and even the Focus I had was too small to be comfortable. Also, I'm from Texas, and we don't quite have the same mindset about cars as, say, New York City or Rome, or Melbourne. If these were going to be the car of choice in Texas, it would have to be like in the distant future where all the cars are the same and the only choice is color. Black, silver, or white.

We thought a smart car would be perfect to tow behind our 33' motorhome. But the smart way to tow this car is to trailer it...that adds a level of extra fiddling we didn't want. Sooooo, wound up with a Hyundai Elantra (small four door sedan) with manual transmission for day trips from camp sites we use. Plus we need a backseat for our dog:) Bottom line...it is just too small for our needs...and too expensive for what you get...even the gasoline mileage isn't that great. But it is cute. Oh, and a great pic by you. Sharp and chrystal clear.

Never sat in one, so I don't know how comfortable they are. Seems like it would work for city only driving (fit into really tight parking spaces), but I wouldn't want to take one out on the highway.

Well to put it mildly I hate thr b----- sight of them but have to admit this is a very good shot.

I like them, but don't particularly want to die in one, so until the testosterone set abandon their monster trucks I won't be going anywhere in one of these.

I kinda like 'em, and this one looks like it has a smiley face. I'm glad that we're finally getting off of our collective keester and actually attempting to design something a bit more ecologically sound and ecologically friendly than the really snazzy looking smoggers we're accustomed to driving. They'll take a bit of getting used to, and there are people who'd probably never want to drive something like this (for some pretty good reasons) but I'd most definitely wanna drive a later generation smart car--something like this, but with a few more features to make it even more viable than the current state of the art provides. In short, I love the fact that it's going in an almost Jettsons sort of direction, but I'll just wait until they come loaded with features such as "hover mode" and a tiny bit more leg room for tall twiggy people like me. As for this shot. I love the sterling clarity of this, and the color just pops!

I've seen them in europe for a long time, they look like fun! customized..... a convertable top would be cool.

My friend Sukie has a yellow one of these. Bought it when they first hit American Mercedes showrooms in early 2008. They ARE cute, and they DID turns heads at the time (not so much now), and they are TINY!! The plus side is that you can turn completely around INSIDE your two car garage(if the other car isn't there),they only sit two, so they're perfect for a couple, and some people will still oggle you if you're into that kind of thing. On the down side, they only sit two REALLY, so forget picking somebody else up if your with your partner. There's storage space for about 3 bags of groceries, so don't shop at more than one place a trip. The engine is sluggish and the shift mushy by Mercedes standards, the ride is terrible over anything but glass smooth roads, and normal potholes would probably destroy the under-carriage. And Chicago has a SERIOUS pothole problem. You can't drive them in the snow because they sit too low to the ground. I would be afraid to take one on the highway. Sukie did that once and swore he never would again. I never have felt safe riding in the thing. It feels like the road is coming at your teeth instead of your feet and you're dwarfed by EVERYTHING. You know you're in a tiny vehicle when you roll up beside a Honda Civic at a stop light and it appears to be the size of a Chevy Impala. Compact SUVs appear like the truck in Spielberg's "Duel", and large ones...Let's just say that they blot out the sun and your bowels get loose. The Smart is also quite expensive for what you get, and the gas mileage isn't dramatically better than more traditional sized compacts. The car would make sense in Europe or Asia, but it's simply TOO small to be very practical in a place as big, or with cars as big, as America.
