Description

The Shrine of Remembrance, located in Kings Domain on St Kilda Road, Melbourne, Australia was built as a memorial to the men and women of Victoria who served in World War I and is now a memorial to all Australians who have served in war. It is a site of annual observances of ANZAC Day (25 April) and Remembrance Day (11 November) and is one of the largest war memorials in Australia. Best viewed zoomed. Here is a photo of it being opened in 1934....if you look at the building off to the right and on the corner, you will see it clearly in yesterday's tilt shift post! The little round buildings are telescopes.

This so incredibly rocks, especially when zoomed! What a structure! I love the fact that it looks so ancient, formidable, and more than just a little majestic. Great colors and I love the little details that pop up here, there and over there in this single shot! It's all so well seen and perfectly presented.

Cheers Chip. I took the tilt shift photo that I posted yesterday from where that little head is centre left!
