Description
Captured 10/18/09, at the beautiful Orchid Show held at the beautiful Huntington Botanical Center and Conservatory in beautiful San Marino, California.
An indoor tripod-mounted photo.
A ZOOM would be to your distinct advantage.
Just one of 139 orchid fotos I had to agonizingly choose from for this momentous occasion. Decisions, decisions. And that doesn't even include the beautiful bunch I have from the beautiful San Diego (nee Quail) Botanic Gardens in beautiful Encinitas, California.
This particular variety looks so alien and esoteric they may not be originally from this planet. In fact, they have "Take me to your leader" written all over them.
Sayonara, thankx for the peek, and for any and all favs and complimentary comments.

Very strange looking but awesome at the same time superb capture and presentation !!
Most attractive! Lovely pic.
They look like little ballerinas!! A beautiful shot for your #1700!!
They really are lovely Harry, and this was a wonderful way to celebrate 1700 images in the gallery. Congratulations
A wonderful capture of these beauties and they look to be dancing across my screen. A wonderful 1700th capture. Congratulations and thank you for sharing.
These seem to come in apparently infinite colour and pattern variations! Beautiful capture, Harry!
these are lovely
You have a very delightful and diverse gallery, and it is a joy to visit it daily, congratulations on number 1700. They look like they are dancing in celelbration.
Beautiful capture! They do look a bit alien. I don't expect blossoms to be green. I like the yellow-green and white against the dark bluer green. Excellent color, light, and detail. Lovely shot for #1700!
Short and sweet Harry! Can't help this! Following on from your War Of the World post.. H.G Wells and all that It's DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS!.....Part 2! Great find... but RUN! Rob
They are gorgeous Harry and a great capture. Dana
Woah they are so pretty and so delicate looking!
I'm so sorry I missed another milestone, though I remember when this went up. You're truly a terrific flower photographer, Harry, and I've learned a lot from seeing your variety of captures. This one is almost like blown-glass, the flowers seem like 'painted' glass (or even stained glass); you caught a deep luminosity in them. And you've set them off against the deep green stalk behind them---beautiful contrast. The 2 different heights & shapes of the orchids make for an almost 'performing duo': beautifully seen & captured. I missed a lot when I was gone, so bear with me as I go traipsing through your older offerings each day I return...I just have to comment on at least some of these. Shots like this make me look forward to the day when I start photographing flowers: So far, it's one of many categories I don't do well. You, however, do them splendidly. Oh---and congratulations on 1700 (even though you're now well over 1800)! Another reason to like this image!
